Strengths:

Ability to learn: Zhao Jie has demonstrated twice during his first year within Dell on how quickly he can ramp up on new things. He has shown himself to be very capable. Zhao Jie has taken ownership for SDL work, communication with all the peripheral PjMs to close SDL pending tasks on time.
Work attitude: Zhao Jie is willing to ask questions and practice with the PjM tools. He is hard working, staying up until midnight to contact ADC PjMs for SDL work, good at pushing and following up, and trying to meet his commitments.
Communication skill: Zhao Jie has very good communication skill. He is able to effectively work with PjMs in ADC and CDC a like.

Areas for improvement

Initiative / Proactive: Zhao Jie has learned a lot about Dell process and products over his short time here. His next step should be in driving action items more proactively with the various engineering and core team members. Zhao Jie should proactively look for opportunities to demonstrate his ability to resolve issues before they happen.
Development process: Zhao Jie should continue to grow his overall knowledge of the development process including steps such as NSRD, allocations, BOM setup, etc. to get a more complete picture of DT development.
Management interaction: Zhao Jie should interact more with the various managers within the organization. The PjM role is very key to the organization and communication skill at the same level is required but so is the ability to escalate to individual’s manager. Zhao Jie should develop relationships in order for him to more easily do this when required in the future.Need improve on action follow up.

Manager Comments:

Zhaojie’s ramping has been incredible in the 1st year of his Dell career : he took over Audio PjM in the 1st month after onboard, then following a few months he did successful jobs on several peripheral projects. He mastered Dell’s processes, tools and supported all Audio projects deliverables, gained very good reputation from the core team and extended team members during this period. In order to further extend his outstanding work, he was assigned to be platform PjM role since middle of Oct, in the meantime, he transferred his Audio jobs to a new PjM. It was kind risky as he needed to learn his new role of platform PjM and also to be mentor for new colleague in parallel. Nevertheless, the transition was smooth. His new role of platform PjM is another challenge because the whole team is new for whole development process. He joined all training courses made by ADC peer, actively got supports from other senior PjMs and other functional area leaders. Of course, as being a junior PjM, he has a lot of spaces to further improve in the current role and needs to keep growing his leadership ability. Zhao Jie will become a qualified PjM and continuously grow in this assignment for next year.
